Alexander Perlstein

Director of UX & Product Strategy

Alex is a Director of User Experience at IBM iX, focused on turning complex challenges into measurable business outcomes through strategy, service design, and product design.

So, who is Alex?

With over a decade of product design experience and a foundation in organizational psychology and visual design, Alex brings deep expertise in service design, CX optimization, user-centered AI solutions, end-to-end product development, and people development and mentorship. He has led cross-functional teams across sectors such as retail, finance, media, healthcare, and communications, driving measurable business outcomes including improved customer retention, increased product adoption, and enhanced operational efficiency.

Alex is particularly skilled at shaping strategies that gain traction by using design to clearly articulate vision and influence stakeholders in ways that align teams and unlock investment. Throughout his career, he has helped organizations prioritize high-impact opportunities, accelerate decision-making, and deliver scalable, user-centered solutions that create value for both the business and its customers.

As an Enterprise Design Thinking Coach, he focuses on embedding human-centered practices into organizations, enabling teams to work more effectively, make better decisions, and consistently deliver meaningful outcomes.

When he’s not solving problems at his day job, you can find him hiking a mountain, volunteering at the aquarium, cooking a lovely new dish but telling everyone it’s not his best, or painting his next watercolor.
